The Department of National Defence (DND) has a base line budget to conduct the basic elements of the cadet training program. In the case of 604, this includes the cost of providing uniforms, the salaries of the reserve officers and providing accommodation at Mewata Armoury. There are no registration fees, costs or dues charged to cadets. However, any additional funding that can be provided by the Sponsoring Committee goes a long way to developing a dynamic, diversified and more rewarding range of experiences.
The activities and programs covered, assisted or augmented by these funds include:

flying, maintaining, repairing, fueling and storing the Squadron’s aircraft
- citizenship trips to other provinces

portions of band, biathlon, range, drill and sports team training
-
airplane modeling club
-
mess dinner etiquette training
-
effective speaking
-
honours and awards
Consequently the Sponsoring Committee is actively involved in fundraising. Some of these activities include:

participation in events such as casinos, car washes, bike-a-thons;
-
bottle drives;
- providing a canteen service; and
-
sales of various products and merchandise.
If every family can help out, even in a small way, the burden is fairly and equitably shared and ultimately much less onerous for everyone.
