Parents... are you looking for an affordable program for your son or daughter, which provides a stimulating,
sociable and educational experience within an enjoyable, yet disciplined environment? Then we invite
you to "come and fly with us" at the 604 "Moose" Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron.
What is Air Cadets?
Air cadets is a program for youth between 12 and 18, run by senior cadets and Cadet Instructor Cadre officers appointed by the Department of National Defense. It costs nothing to join and offers a
variety of activities throughout the year, free of charge.
The program stresses responsibility, community service and good citizenship. The cadets receive
training in flying, gliding, leadership, public speaking, sports and wilderness survival. Additional optional exercises include participation in the squadron
Band, or the Precision Drill, Marksmanship or Biathlon Teams which all meet weekly. All instruments
and equipment are provided and no experience is necessary.
The cadets wear uniforms supplied by the Canadian Forces and can
rise through the ranks from Air Cadet to Warrant Officer First
Class. Promotion is based on the skills and abilities developed through the many opportunities
provided. There are a number of weekend camping trips per year and cadets may also apply for summer training camps which give a unique combination
of outdoor and social activities along with valuable instruction. Attendance at camps is free and the
Canadian Forces provide all transportation, meals, lodging and special equipment. Ground school
training and some scholarships have age related requirements.
