Volunteer Screening:

Ensuring Safety, Support, and Success for Our Cadets

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer with  604 Moose Squadron. At 604 "Moose" volunteers are the backbone of our mission to support and empower youth cadets. As a volunteer-based organization, your contribution plays a pivotal role in enriching the cadet experience and enabling our operations to run smoothly. The Air Cadet Program is a comprehensive one, which is run in a structured,  disciplined and safe manner. In this context, it is important to ensure all volunteers are appropriately  selected and are good role models for Air Cadets. Knowing the volunteers, their skills and talents, and  their intended contribution is very important to the Squadron Sponsoring Committee, Officers and staff.  A team effort produces the best results for the greater benefit of the Air Cadet Movement.  

While there are numerous opportunities to get involved—such as assisting with events, providing logistical support during field training exercises (FTX), or managing the canteen—volunteers directly engaging with youth cadets must complete a screening process. This is not only a critical step in ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants, including cadets and volunteers, but also a requirement for roles like transporting cadets (other than your own children) or supporting cadet activities.

The screening process provides several important benefits:

• Safety and Security: It helps create a secure environment for cadets, ensuring peace of mind for families and participants.
• Insurance Coverage: Once screened, you are covered under the Air Cadet League of Canada’s insurance policy during your volunteer activities.
• Inclusivity and Trust: It demonstrates our collective commitment to fostering a safe and supportive community for all.

We strongly encourage parents who actively contribute to 604 Moose Squadron to complete the screening process. By doing so, you become an integral part of our community while ensuring a positive and protected experience for everyone involved.

Complete the Volunteer Interest Form If you’re ready to take the first step in becoming a screened volunteer, please fill out the Volunteer Interest Form to let us know of your enthusiasm and willingness to support. This form is the initial step in the screening process and helps us understand how you’d like to contribute.

Steps to Becoming a Screened Volunteer with the Air Cadet League of Canada

Step 1: Complete the Volunteer Interest Form: 

Indicate your areas of interest and availability. This ensures we can match your skills and interests with volunteer opportunities.

Step 2: Complete the Air Canada League (ACL) Volunteer Screening

Download and Complete the form.Save it and email it to screening@604moose.ca. Once we have recieved the form, you will recieve an email back with instructions for Step 3.

Step 3: Participate in an Interview

Participate in an Interview: Meet with our team to discuss your role, expectations, and responsibilities. 

Step 3:Undergo a Police Records Check

Ensure eligibility for roles involving youth interaction.
