The training that Air Cadets must undergo to progress through the program and qualify for promotions and summer camps is called the Proficiency Level Program. Each proficiency level builds on the knowledge and skills of the previous level. It is conducted at Mewata Armories during the period September 01 – June 30 and consists of a combination of training sessions, training days and training weekends.  Some of the classes presented to cadets include Drill, General Cadet Knowledge, Citizenship, Leadership, Fitness, Meteorology, Aerospace, Outdoor Survival and various aspects of flying.  Level 5 is ‘on the job training’ in which the cadets fine tune their leadership skills and start to learn more about how the different squadron offices are run.

All of our Mandatory training runs on Tuesday nights at Mewata Armoury from 6:10pm to 9:15pm

Mandatory Support training is training that helps to supplement the classroom teachings. These include Aerodrome tours, familiarization flying, citizenship tours, parades, gliding, and survival weekends. This training takes place throughout the year on weekends making it possible for maximum participation.

Optional training is training that reinforces the cadet aims of Leadership, Citizenship, and Physical fitness. These activities also help to boost morale and esprit de corps within the squadron. These activities include effective speaking, sports teams, drill teams, band, rifle drill team, biathlon, marksmanship, provincial flag party and ground school. This training runs on various nights Sunday and Monday, 6:30pm – 9:30pm.
